Invisible roof project

In 2024, a unique structure combining curved keder profiles with a transparent canopy was installed on prepared scaffolding in Bergen. The next rainy day, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra played an unforgettable concert under the so-called Invisible Roof.

What was addressed?

The customer – Creative Technology Norway– wanted to bring something premium to their client, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

For their three-day summer outdoor event, they wanted to build a unique roof structure with a transparent canopy.

MILOS team

The project was led by MILOS Brand Manager Marek Žúbor together with Zdeněk Růžička, Sales Manager. The customer’s needs were fully understood and, with strong support from the purchasing department, the team started bringing the project to life.

What were the challenges?

The main challenge was to correctly and safely produce the curved keder profiles. Area Four Industries’ structural engineers also had to work closely with the project team to ensure that the keder arches could meet the customer’s requirements for for the loadings.

The customer chose their own scaffolding system, so the MILOS team had to develop suitable anchoring and connection systems.

The solution

To meet these challenges, the designers selected a 300 × 122 mm keder profile and started searching for a partner capable of bending it to the required curve.

The keder profiles also played a crucial role during the canopy installation. Thanks to the integrated keder channels, the transparent canopy could be smoothly pulled up and over the structure to fully cover each selected segment between the arches.

For the required stage size, the team designed a structure with six keder arches, each with a loading capacity of 5,000 kg.

This solution also allows virtually unlimited stage depth by simply adding more arches.

Customer satisfaction

The MILOS team travelled to Norway to support the build-up, which was highly appreciated by the client. The overall look and functionality of the roof structure were put to the test on the first day of the event, when heavy rain hit Bergen. The musicians stayed safe and dry and delivered an unforgettable performance.
