Each shooting lane required a table positioned to establish the correct shooting distance, with the target suspended from a custom-designed frame at a distance of 10 metres.
At the time, live-projectile shooting was used, featuring 4.5 mm air pistols firing lead pellets. The target end of the structure therefore had to incorporate suitable protective padding and coverings to contain stray pellets and protect the surrounding competition environment.

Alistair Frary, A4i UK Director of Motorsport, previously of SHOWTRAX INTERNATIONAL, approached Glen Brown of MILOS UK to evaluate a tender specification for the creation of a temporary firing-range structure and to investigate the detailed technical regulations governing the sport.
What were the challenges?
Before a practical solution could be developed, the competition regulations and operational requirements of the shooting discipline had to be examined in detail. Shooting distances, target positioning, competitor layout, safety, structural rigidity, weather exposure, assembly time and transportation all had to be considered as parts of a single integrated system.
The result needed to behave like permanent sporting infrastructure while retaining all the advantages of a temporary modular installation.
